UDELL -- Farrell Lane Udell, 63, a resident of Santa Fe, passed away June 29, 2010 due to cancer. He was preceded in death by parents Isaac and Edna Udell and siblings Sterling, Cathy, and Douglas Udell. Farrell was born February 11, 1947 in Boulder, CO. He was raised in Taos, NM and graduated from Taos High school in 1965. He married Jan Udell in 1968. Farrell was a cowboy on Northern New Mexico ranches. He was in the Marine Corp from 1967 to 1970 and fought in Vietnam. After returning home, he went to UNM and earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree. He later earned a second Master's degree at California State Sacraments. He worked in the VA Vet Center program as a counselor and Team Leader for 28 years. He also taught Social Work classes at Highlands University for several years. He also belonged to several Veteran's Organizations. Farrell was a cowboy, a woodcarver, a soldier, a counselor, a teacher, a loyal, hardworking man, a good neighbor, a good husband, a good father, and a good grandfather. He was a good man. He is survived by wife Jan Udell of Santa Fe, son Rio Udell and spouse Amylee and their daughters Zia, Lane, and Sonora all of Albuquerque, son Duston Udell and spouse Heather and their son Gavin all of Orange, CA, and sister Christy Stripe and spouse Tom of Marysville, CA. A Memorial Service will be held July 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
