ROBBINS -- Adrian Johnny (John), born May 21, 1946, died on May 17, 2010 in Sada, La Coruna, Spain. John was born and raised in Albuquerque, and traveled extensively after graduating from UNM. He taught school in Venezuela, St. Thomas, Columbia, and in Dulce, NM. He was a distinguished teacher and coach at St. Pius X High School from 1989 to 1999 when he retired to reside in La Coruna. He met his wife Pilar while she was an exchanged teacher at St. Pius. When they returned to La Coruna, he remodeled their home and operated a Bed and Breakfast for several years. He was a much loved teacher, coach, and B&B host, as well as a son, brother, dad, granddad and husband. John was recently inducted into the St. Pius X Faculty/Staff Wall of Recognition for 2010. A friend spoke of him as "a unique individual with an outstanding personality and a charming character who definitely had a lot of love in his soul and a passion for life." He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Robbins in 2002; and a brother Robert T. Robbins in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Pilar Viana Zulaica of La Coruna; his dad, Adrian (Abe) Robbins of Rio Rancho; a son John Todd Robbins; and granddaughter Shelby Robbins of Spokane, WA; a sister Charlotte Johnson and her husband Don of Rio Rancho; a niece Kritin Johnson of Waupaca, WI; and a nephew Sean Cast of Ozark, AL; and a host of colleagues and friends. A memorial service for John will be planned at a later date.
