SANCHEZ -- Rebecca M. Sanchez, 88, passed from our world to be with the Lord for eternity on Sunday, May 30, 2010. Rebecca is survived by her sons, Ed Sanchez and Michael Sanchez and his wife, Antoinette; Grandchildren, Christopher, Gino, Adrian and Dominic were blessed as they grew into adulthood by her love and caring; eight great-grandchildren, who all brought her tremendous joy and pride. Rebecca's late grandson Eric was surely waiting for her in heaven with open arms as was her late husband, Ernest. Rebecca was born in Dixon, N.M. She married Ernest J. Sanchez of Espanola, N.M. Both worked for Bells Trading Post in Albuquerque (Sunbell) where they were silversmiths by profession. Rebecca was a very giving soul. Over her lifetime, she cared for her ill father and mother, often took friends and family who were unable to drive to doctor's appointments and simply sat beside those who were ill giving them the peace of her presence. She cared for multitudes of children over the years as their parents went off to work. Rebecca is well known for being the inspiration for the popular songs "Los Ojos de mi Madre" and "Madrecita de mi Vida" written by her son, Michael. We will miss her every day but rejoice in her happiness now that she has gone to her eternal home. A rosary will be held Thursday June 3, 2010, 7:00 p.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW. Mass will be held Friday, June 4, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE.
