ALLEN -- John A. "Jack" Allen Jr., 81, passed away May 22, 2010 after a battle with leukemia. Born September 9, 1929 he was preceded in death by his wife Margaret. Jack joined the Army Air Corps at the age of 16 and served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years. He owned Jack Allen Tours for many years and after he retired a second time he served as a volunteer at the Veterans Memorial Hospital doing patient transport. Jack will be missed by his many friends, co-workers and family. He is survived by son John A. Allen III and wife Beverly; daughter Carolyn Gonet; and grandchildren Stephen and Angela Gonet all of Albuquerque; grandson John A Gonet III and partner Jessica Gagnon of Willamantic, CT; and sister Mary Ann Harris and husband Carl of Ashland, VA . Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday May 28, 2010 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood Park NE with Fr. Jim Hunter officiating. Burial of the cremains with military honors will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the VA hospital.
