BAKER -- Robert "Bob" Baker, 72, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 25, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Loretta; sister, Melba Stough and husband, Dick of MI; aunt, June Kalishok of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Don Barton of PA; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Gladys Baker. He was born on May 11, 1937 in Muskegon, MI and graduated from Muskegon High. Shortly thereafter he joined the U.S. Air Force in which he proudly served. The Bakers moved from California to Albuquerque in 1993 where Bob worked for the Post Office until his retirement in 2003. He served as President of Chapter 80 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARF). Music was important to Bob and he played with several bands in the area, including the Dukes of Albuquerque and the Palo Duro Senior Center Band. He was a member of The American Legion, Post # 49. Bob also enjoyed playing a round of golf, traveling, and spending time with his many friends. He was a loving husband, brother, nephew, uncle and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at French-Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Wednesday, March 31, 2010, 11:00 a.m. Interment of cremated remains will be at 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception will follow at American Legion Post #49, 11005 Central Ave. NE, 4:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Dukes of Albuquerque Band, 6920 Cherry Hills Loop, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
