STROBLE -- Mavis Stroble, age 93, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2010 at her home at La Vida Llena Retirement Community in Albuquerque where she had been a resident for 26 years. Mavis is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Jessica and Dick Elkins of Albuquerque, NM and Kathleen and Jon Caudill of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren Greg Elkins and wife, Susan of Dallas, TX, Claire Uman and husband, Jon of Gainesville, FL, Deidre Podlesnik and husband, Rob of Bolton, Ontario, Canada, Debra Fawvor and husband, Jarrett of Nacagodoches, TX; sister, Vernelle Tucker of Tallahassee, FL; sixteen great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews around the country. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. R. (Bob) Stroble, daughter, Carol Ann Cole, and granddaughters, Natalie Caudill and Leah Hodges. Mavis was born in Simmonsville, Mississippi but grew up in Tallahassee, FL. She graduated from Florida State College for Women and was the first in her family to graduate from college. She attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she met her husband, Bob who was an educational pastor. After living in Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama during her husband's pastorates, they moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1984. Mavis was a pastor's wife, a dedicated gardener, Bible teacher, painter, and poet. Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at La Vida Llena Retirement Community, 1051 Lagrima De Oro Road in Albuquerque, NM 87111. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Full Life Foundation, Residents Assistances Fund c/o La Vida Llena Retirement Community.
