NESBITT -- Robert D. Nesbitt Jr, Professor Emeritus, 86, was born in Ft Worth, TX to Dewey and Goldie Bowling Nesbitt and passed away in Albuquerque, NM on February 23, 2010. As a young man in Ft Worth, Bob worked in a Defense Plant during WW II and entered the US Army Air Forces in 1943 and was later recalled to service during the Korean Conflict. During his service in the Army Air Forces, Bob learned to fly and discovered his life-long passion for airplanes. He was an avid pilot for most of his adult life and was active in many avionic clubs. After his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant, Bob received his formal education on the GI bill at North Texas State University and later received his Masters Degree from Texas A & M University. While attending Texas A & M, Bob began his 33 year career as an Industrial Education professor. First as a graduate teacher at Texas A & M , then a professor at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, Tarleton State in Stevensville, TX and finally as a full professor of Industrial Education at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Robert is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patsy Lee Nesbitt; son Ralph Dewey Nesbitt and his wife Barbara; daughter LeeAnn Moores and her husband Mark David; granddaughter Sara Reagan Moores; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to The University of New Mexico Presidential Scholarship Fund, 1155 University Blvd SE, MSC 11 6320, 1 University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001. A memorial service was held Saturday, February 27, 2010, at French Mortuary Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE. Ennichement will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
