MARTINEZ -- Katie Faith Martinez, age 3, was called to eternal life with the Lord, after a battle of short illness, on February 25, 2010. Katie was born on March 31, 2006 and was a life-time resident of Albuquerque. Katie was a happy hearted beloved sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, and niece. Katie is survived by her parents, Melvin and Deborah Martinez; sister, Celeste and brother, Roman; students of St. Mary's Catholic School; maternal grandparents, Pedro and Clara Zamora of Albuquerque, and paternal grandparents, Ernest and Ruth Martinez of Penasco, New Mexico. She is also survived by uncles and aunts Joseph and Margaret Zamora, Pete and Liz Zamora, Isabelle and Steve Griego, LuAnne and Jerry Tafoya, Darlene and Clyde Gurule, Emmy Lou and Tony Garcia, Marilyn and Clarence Aragon, Julie Anne and Dan Sanchez (Godparents), Ernest and Melina Martinez; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Katie's endearing smile, warmth and caring personality will be forever impressed in our hearts. We will remain eternally grateful for having her in our lives and will honor her by emulating the same spirit of joy and love that she gifted to all of us. Katie was a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Community. A viewing will be held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW (www.holyrosarynm.org), on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m., followed by Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Fr. Gene Gries, OP, will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 1, 2010. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with reception following interment at Holy Rosary Parish Hall (Rosario Hall).
