MITCHELL -- Lucila Ocares Mitchell, 88, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010. She was born August 4, 1921 in Belen, NM, a daughter of Ramon S. and Delfinia G. Gabaldon Sanchez. She was married to Brevas G. Mitchell for 54 years. He died in 1999. She worked as a cottage supervisor for 20 years at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School for the Developmentally Disabled until she retired in 1991. Survived by one son, Raymond B. and his wife, Patricia Mitchell, Albuquerque, NM; one grandson, Matthew Mitchell, Albuquerque, NM; one granddaughter, Kithara and her husband, Roger Andrews and two great-grandchildren Brianna and Justin of DeFuniak Springs FL; one sister and three brothers; Margaret Saavedra and Ernest Sanchez of Belen, NM; Ignacio and his wife, Genevieve Sanchez, Kingman, AZ; Joe and his wife, Sally Sanchez, Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers; Marina Kocsis, Lucy Abeyta, Pat Sanchez and Frank Sanchez. The Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 4, 2010, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church in Belen, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 5, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at the Church in Belen. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her brothers, Ignacio Sanchez, Joe Sanchez, Earnest Sanchez and her nephews, Dean Jaramillo from Chicago, IL, Bruce Sanchez from Edgewood, NM and Gary Sanchez from Pojoaque, NM.
