THOMAS -- Edward C. Thomas, age 96, died on Thursday, January 7, 2010. Born on June 10, 1913 in Portsmouth, West Virginia, he grew up in Dayton, Ohio and was a longtime resident of San Diego, California. Mr. Thomas volunteered for the Navy during World War II and served as a Naval Officer in both the European and Pacific theaters. He was a graduate of George Williams College in Chicago, Illinois and received his Master of Social Work degree from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Anne Thomas; and his daughter, Lynda Huffman. He is survived by his son and his wife, Larry and Brigitte Thomas of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Kristina Wheeler; and great-grandchildren, Jaycee and Jayden Wheeler of Rio Rancho; and grandson and his wife, Kirk and Erin Thomas; and great-grandchild, Joshua Thomas of Billings, Montana. Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California at date and time yet to be scheduled.
