UNGVARSKY -- John Ungvarsky passed away December 31, 2009 at the age of 76. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA., John graduated from Penn State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Moving to Albuquerque in 1959 as a 2nd LT., he remained as a civilian employee of the USAF until his retirement in 1989. The highlight of his career was the part he played in the design and construction of the Trestle Project. John spent many years as a cubmaster, scoutmaster and adult leader with the Boy Scouts. Because of his devotion, several young men in his troop became Eagle Scouts. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for his contributions to the Scouting movement. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Donna Verry Ungvarsky; daughter, Michele Ungvarsky; and son-in-law, Tom Chaney. As requested cremation has taken place. A family memorial service will take place a later date. If desired donations can be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, NM Boys and Girls Ranches or Charity of choice.
