MCLEOD -- Max W. McLeod, age 78, of Atlanta, Texas, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in a Shreveport, Louisiana, Hospital. Max was born October 3, 1931, in Pine Island, Louisiana the son of John and Winnie McLeod. He was the retired owner of Pearl River Chemicals; was a member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta; and was a member of the Commemorative Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Opal Utley; and a brother, Olen S. McLeod. He is survived by his wife, Jean Holland McLeod of Atlanta, Texas; two daughters, Betsy "Elizabeth" McLeod Mercuri of Burlington, Ontario Canada, and Elaine McLeod Wheeler of Atlanta, Texas; four brothers, Curtis R. and Joy Ross McLeod of Shreveport, Louisiana, John B. and Bonnie Roberts McLeod of McLeod, Texas, James P. McLeod of Bedford, Texas, and Gerald W. McLeod of Batesburg, South Carolina; four sisters, Merle McLeod Sparling of Queen City, Texas, Linda McLeod and John Crosby of Newton, Massachusetts, Judith McLeod Williams of Kildare, Texas, and Meredith Dunton of McLeod, Texas; two grandsons, Daniel McLeod Mercuri of Burlington, Ontario Canada and Adam Wheeler of New Orleans, Louisiana; and a number of other relatives. Services for Mr. McLeod will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Atlanta, burial to follow in the Bethsaida "Y" Cemetery with Rev. Austin Lewis and Rev. Wes Chambers officiating. Visitation for Max will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2010 at the funeral home.
