YEAGER -- Virginia D. Yeager died peacefully on December 14, 2009 after a short illness. Virginia was born on September 7, 1920 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Virginia and the Schneider family moved to New Mexico in the mid 1930s for health reasons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years James Yeager and brothers Alton, Chester, Rollin, and Clinton. A 1939 graduate of Albuquerque High School, Virginia started work as a telephone operator at Mountain Bell where many life-long friendships started. She later worked at and retired from First National Bank in Albuquerque. She married James B. Yeager on April 26, 1939, and they lived in the family home for 66 years. She will be remembered in the hearts of her family: sons Steve Yeager of Denver Colorado, Gary Yeager and Glenda Yeager of Corrales, grandchildren Stephanie Yeager of Las Cruces, and Eric Yeager and wife Heidi , and great-grandson Jase of Unionville, Michigan; and many close extended family and friends. She was a 60 year plus member of first United Methodist Church where she was active in many charitable activities. The family gives special thanks to loving and devoted niece, Yvonne Neau and beloved caretaker and friend Claudia Sainz. A memorial service will be held on January 10, 2010 at 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in downtown Albuquerque.
