SCHREIBER -- Mary Cook Schreiber. Longtime Albuquerque resident died peacefully at the age of 92. Raised in Princeton, New Jersey, she moved to Albuquerque after marrying George A. Schreiber, former Chairman of the Board of Public Service Company of New Mexico, whom she met in North Africa during World War II. Mary was an avid sports fan with a keen interest in the game of golf. Her oldest son, Peter F. Schreiber, died in 2001. Mary is survived by her son George A. Schreiber, Jr. and daughter-in-law Susan V. Schreiber of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, her daughter Mary S. Smith and son-in-law Dr. Christopher T. Smith of Sheridan, Wyoming, her grandson, Taylor A. Schreiber and her granddaughters Dr. Sara C. Smith, Catherine T. Smith and Hadley G. Schreiber. George A. Schreiber, Jr. is President and Chief Executive Officer of Continental Energy Systems LLC which is the company that owns New Mexico Gas Company. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2009 at 2 pm at the Gate of Haven Cemetery and Mausoleum, 7500 Paseo del Norte, Albuquerque.
