ALDERMAN -- Lt. Col. James O. Alderman, PhD, US Air Force, Retired, 88, went to be with the Lord Monday, November 23, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Minnie Ruth Alderman; daughter, Rebecca R Walker and husband Ralph; grandsons, Stephen Walker and wife Jasmyn and Dr Scott Walker; sister Grace Curran; and brother Edwin Alderman and many other family and friends. He served his country in the US Air Force for over 33 years before retiring in 1976. He was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal by the Secretary of Defense, the Meritorious Service Medal by the President of the United States. Dr Alderman served as a nuclear physicist and engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratories, taught at the Air Force Academy, and also taught mathematics at Hope Christian School and Evangel Christian Academy. James was a faithful member of Sandia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and conducted Bible Studies, and was involved in the Acts ministry at Vista Del Rio. Services will be Saturday, November 28, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE with entombment to follow at Chester T French Memorial Mausoleum, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit Friday, November 27, 2009, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Christian School Scholarship Fund, 8005 Louisiana SE, 87109, or Evangel Christian Academy Scholarship Fund, 4501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, 87109.
