AGUILAR -- Avelina (Rojo) (Garcia), died peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in Santa Barbara, CA. She was born in San Marcial, NM on March 21, 1906. As a young woman, she survived the big flood which led to her move to Albuquerque where she spent most of her life. During her retirement years, Avelina enjoyed chatting with friends and senior center activities especially square dancing where she met her third husband, Fidel Aguilar. They spent 10 happy years square dancing until his death in 1982. She moved to California in 1989 to be closer to family. Avelina had a zest for life and an independent mind. She helped many people in her life time. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was loving, gracious and kind. She will be missed. Avelina was preceded in death by her young daughter, Nestorita; her husbands, Tomas Garcia and Fidel Aguilar. Avelina is survived by her son, Luciano (Rose) Sedillo, her former daughter-in-law, Catherine Sedillo, her grandchildren, Michael Sedillo, Donna Sedillo, Mark (Susan) Sedillo, Anthony (Terri) Sedillo, Sharon Gumataotao; ten great-grandchildren and her cousin, Pauline Layne. The viewing will be held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery Chapel on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside prayer and burial at 11:30 a.m.
