GUTIERREZ -- Richard Gutierrez of Albuquerque passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, October 11, 2009. He was born in Denver, CO on December 27, 1939 to Joseph and Mary Gutierrez and was married to the love of his life, Lorraine, for 51 years. Richard spent his younger years in the Los Angeles, CA area prior to moving himself and his entire family to New Mexico during 1978. A 1958 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Los Angeles and following his attendance at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, Richard was a career Electrical Designer who worked for various companies in Los Angeles, Las Vegas (Nevada), and Albuquerque. Intermittently, Richard ran successful building maintenance and electrical enterprises. Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather throughout most of his life. Richard loved gardening, carpentry, bowling, boxing, mountain hiking, camping, travel, and spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his wife, Lorraine, and three children and three grandchildren: son, Steven Gutierrez and wife, Agnes, of Mesa, AZ; daughter, Theresa Gorduyn and husband, Mel, and two children, Travis and Julianna of Belen; son, Ronald Gutierrez and wife, Gail, and one child, Adam, of Albuquerque; two sisters, Esper Tafoya and Alice Lopez; and one brother, Joseph "Pepe" Gutierrez. A Rosary will be held at French ~ Wyoming Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
