ZAINA -- Elaine Elizabeth Zaina, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1984 went home to the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Ann Migliarini of Albuquerque; son Louis Bernard Zaina and wife, Michelle of Albuquerque and grandsons Louis Arturo Zaina and Angelo Giuseppe Zaina. Mrs. Zaina was preceded in death by her ex-husband Bert Joseph Zaina. Mrs. Zaina was born in Salem, Ohio on May 26, 1941. She graduated from Salem High School in 1959 and obtained her bachelor degree from Youngstown State University. She was an elementary school teacher in New Jersey and Ohio. Mrs. Zaina relocated to New Mexico in 1984 to enjoy the high desert weather. She continued to teach elementary school in Albuquerque and Los Lunas until her retirement in 1996. Mrs. Zaina was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling. She was deeply involved in various Church activities including the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, the Secular Franciscans and several Bible Studies in Ohio and New Mexico. A rosary service will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW, Winnie Klimpka reciting. Mass will be celebrated immediately following the rosary at 11:00 a.m., with Father Gene Gries, Celebrant. A burial service will take place in October 2009 at Grandview Cemetery in Salem, Ohio.
