TAFOYA -- Rupert Tafoya, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009. He is survived by beloved pet and companion, "Cuddles"; his aunt, Mary Louise Tafoya Powell of Los Lunas, NM; cousins; and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruperto Sr and Theresa (Pacheco) Tafoya. Rupert was born and raised in Belen, NM. He graduated from Belen High School in 1949 and then attended the University of New Mexico and received a degree in Business Administration. He was in the Army during the Korean conflict. Rupert retired in February of 1987 from the US Small Business Administration, as Chief of the Portfolio Management in charge of servicing and liquidation of loans. He was very talented in woodworking, having made several clocks, jewelry and many decorative items for his very close friends. Rupert was known for his ability to repair anything in the electrical and plumbing field. A special thanks to his neighbor and doctor, Carmen Rodriguez, M.D., and close friend, Joe Sisneros. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary University Blvd. Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 9, 2009, 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Larry Farmer, Evisalio Padilla, Tony Olmi, Roy Storey, Mark Hill, and Gary Blea. Honorary pallbearers will be Diego Sisneros and Lorenzo Espinosa.
