NUANES -- Emily C. Nuanes, 88, passed away on June 13, 2009, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; and her parents, Emilio and Petra Martinez. Born in Winslow, Arizona, Emily grew up in North Albuquerque and later moved to Los Angeles where she and Leo lived for over 30 years before returning to New Mexico. Emily is survived by her sister, Vicentita Cheek, sister Annabelle Lunn and husband, Frank, and sister Ida Palmer and husband, Ed. Although she and Leo were not blessed with children of their own, they were a loving uncle and aunt to several generations of their nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Daniels Family Funeral Service, 9420 Fourth Street NW. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday morning at Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd. NE, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Burial Service at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
