CHIRIGOS -- Helen (Kartas) Chirigos, 93, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009. She is survived by her sons, John C. "Dean" Chirigos and wife, Lynn of Farmington, and Michael D. "Mickey" Chirigos and wife, Carla of Albuquerque; grandsons, Louis Iacoletti and wife, Michelle, John Iacoletti, and Timothy Chirigos and wife, Gay; great-grandchildren, Fred Iacoletti, Rachel Iacoletti, Nadia Iacoletti, Mark Iacoletti, Brendan Frye, Paul Iacoletti, and Stephanie Iacoletti; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Chirigos; and daughter, Eve Bardas. Helen was born in Walsenburg, CO and graduated from Santa Fe High School. She was very active in her church and as a member of the Philoptochos, past member of the Daughters of Penelope, and a Sunday School Teacher. Helen retired in 1981 from the Public Service Company of New Mexico as an executive secretary. She loved her Greek heritage, and was an excellent cook of Greek food. A Trisagion will be held Friday, May 22, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High St SE. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Iacoletti, Louis Iacoletti, Steve Mondini, Matt Maull, Ethan Hall and Nathan Hall. Honorary pallbearer will be Constantine "Gus" Hadjidakis. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Montebello and Ana Kaseman Hospice for the care they provided to Helen.
