AVOLIO -- Lou J. Avolio passed away Saturday night, May 16, 2009 at his home. Lou was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah; and son, Mark. He is survived by his daughter Jennie Avolio Hancock and husband, David Hancock, brother Richard Avolio and wife Antoinette, and partner Bobbi Sharp. Lou, originally from Buffalo, NY came to Albuquerque in 1947, to serve in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Sandia Base. He returned to New Mexico, and then in 1961 became City Manager for Commonwealth/United Artist Theatres and retired in 1992. He served on the NM Theatre Association and was instrumental in establishing the NM Film Commission in 1968 with Governor Dave Cargo and Chuck Mittlestadt. Friends may visit Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Chapel, 1726 Girard Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, phone - 256-7749, officiated by Reverend Dan Hedges. Pallbearers will be Sam Wingerd, John MacNinch, Daniel Sosaya, Bill Kerschen, Chris Baca, and Chuck Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Matteucci, John Servizio, Paul Villella, William Marchiando, Joe Chavez, Arthur Beach, and Sal Brigante. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
