RUIZ -- Tom Ruiz, wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend was born April 21, 1941 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He went to join his Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Tom lived strong, happy and grateful for everything and everyone in his life. He was a United States Air Force Veteran who served his country honorably. Tom lived in Los Alamos for 53 years and retired from the Laboratory. He moved to Albuquerque in 1999. Tom was an avid golfer and a Lobo and Dallas Cowboy fan. He coached several softball and baseball teams for many years and touched many lives. Tom will be remembered as a faithful friend to everyone who was fortunate enough to be a part of his life. His love of God grew every day and we know his home is now with Jesus. As well, Tom was a devout Catholic and was as Assigned Adorer in the Blessed Sacrament. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pilar and his father, Levi Ruiz; brothers, Ray and Joe Ruiz and his brother-in-law, Tony Rodriguez. Tom is survived by his loving family, his wife, Mary Lou Ruiz; his daughter, Shirley Lockyer and husband Tom; son, Richard Ruiz; daughter, Sheri Ruiz and Denise Hall; son, Ron Ruiz; son, Richard Ross and wife Diana and son, Alan Ross and wife Julie; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Phylis Rodriguez, Rita Peaslee and husband Jim, Juanita Miguel and Dolores Fulcher; sisters-in-law, Harriett Ruiz, Kay Nation, Cheryl Drake and husband Dan; his dog, Rosie Posie; numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. in Rio Rancho, NM. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. with US Air Force Honors. We will miss him dearly and may God bless you all.
