CHAVES -- Mildred Marie Chaves, 87, of Laguna Pueblo, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009. She is survived by two sons, John Chaves and wife, Goldie of Tallahassee, FL, Glenn Chaves and wife, Diane of Henderson, NV; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Max in 2007; and one son, Allen Fred in 1967. Mildred was born in Claremore, OK on Thursday, October 13, 1921, a daughter to the late Andrew and Ethel Burton. Mildred was a lady of great courage and conviction; she had a great love for her country and was very active in politics all her life. She was known to be "fiesty" and dedicated to the causes in which she believed. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10:30 a.m., at French-University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd NE with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family will greet friends at French - University Chapel, 1111 University Blvd NE, Friday from 9:30 a.m. until Service time.
