GOMEZ -- Irene Gomez, 92, peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009. She is survived by her children, Cathy Maestas, Richard Maestas and wife, Arlene, Mary Gallegos, Sally Perry, Julia Sandoval and husband, Eloy; special grandson, Larry Martinez; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregiver Victoria Hernandez. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Maestas; second husband, Fred Gomez; daughter, Cecilia B. Martinez and husband, Lawrence; brothers, Joe, Philip, Louie, Albert, and Steve Martinez; sisters, Marcella Felts and Mercedes Lueras; parents, Lucy and Ignacio Martinez. Irene was a member of the San Felipe de Neri Parish, Blue Army, Altar Society, and Sacred Heart League. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, March 23, 2009, 6:00 p.m., at San Felipe de Neri Parish, 2005 North Plaza NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, with Mass time pending, also at San Felipe de Neri Parish, followed by interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Irene to San Felipe de Neri Parish, 2005 North Plaza NW, 87104, or to the Good Shepherd, 218 Iron St SW.
