CHAVEZ -- Susie Chavez, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, and former resident of Bernalillo, NM, passed away Monday, March 16, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman A. Chavez; and her parents Abranita and Abel Dominguez. She was a loving mom to her children, Irma and Pepe Mendoza of Arizona; Sandra and Ron Gallagher of Oregon, Dennis and Rose Chavez of Albuquerque, Michael and Chris Chavez of Colorado; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers Dan and Serafin Dominguez; sisters Cindy Dominguez and Cirilia Salas. Susie was a lifelong and very faithful member of Holy Ghost Parish. She truly enjoyed helping people, loved to dance, and enjoyed taking care of her yard and the upkeep of the inside of her home. Susie will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her. A Rosary will be recited this morning at 11:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Casket bearers are Andre Mendoza, Stephen Gallagher, Martin Salas, Lawrence Salas, Sean Sena and Lawrence Johnson.
