MCAVOY -- Anne C. (Babs) McAvoy (nee Babinchak), of Munster, passed away peacefully Sunday night, March 1, 2009 at The Care Center at Hartsfield Village, with her niece by her side. She was born to the late Michael and Mary Ann Babinchak, grew up in Gary, and graduated from Tolleston High School. In 1951, she married Monroe (Mac) McAvoy. Most of their married life was spent in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and later in California. After her husband's death in 1997, she returned to northwest Indiana. Babs is survived by two loving sisters: Mary Louise Utofka of Munster, Margaret (William) Maddox of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; devoted niece, Karen Roberts of Schererville, IN. Preceded in death by two sisters: Helen Hariu, Elizabeth Babinchak; one brother, Michael Babinchak. Friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service, 6360 Broadway, Merrillville, IN Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 10:00 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5885 Harrison St., Merrillville, with Rev. Dennis Teles officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville.
