CHELLIS -- Gary James Chellis, born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 20, 1943, passed away at his home February 17, 2009, after a long battle with lung and heart disease, his wife and friends by his side. He served our country with the 3380th Technical School, United States Air Force, and was Honorably Discharged in November of 1962. He was also a POW. He married and fathered one daughter, Annie. Unfortunately, he and his wife divorced, and he moved to Alb. following a job as a computer tech. After years of service at his job, he acquired heart and lung disease, and had been disabled for over ten years. The last four years of his life, he met Barbie Irwin who became his roomate-home health care provider. They fell in love and married November 20, 2008. She was by his side until the time of his death. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. He has one surviving lovely sister, Diane Chellis of Brooklyn, New York. A celebration of his life will be held March 4, 2009 at noon, at his and Barbie's home in Sandia Park. Gary, You are not forgotten, Always with us, and always loved.
