TAYLOR -- Michael Shane Taylor (Shane), age 33, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Shane was born May 11, 1975, (Mother's Day), at Fort Dix Army Base, NJ, son to Col. Louis Steve Taylor (USAF-retired) of Clearwater, FL, and Sandra Taylor Johnson of Gig Harbor, WA. Shane is survived by his parents; brother, Louis Stuart Taylor (Stuart); stepparents, Roy F. Johnson (USAFR-retired) of Gig Harbor, WA, and Sherry Taylor of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law, Renanah Taylor; step-brother, John Michael Taylor of Largo, FL; step-sister, Dawn Alyson Taylor Stockton, of Pfluegerville, TX; nephews, Sean Taylor, age 14, Kyle Taylor, age 12, Colin Taylor, age 9, and Evan Taylor, age 4,; grandfather, Louis U. Taylor of Tulsa, OK, Arthur P. Nave and Mary Nave of Lovington, NM; uncle, Brent Nave of Lovington, NM; aunts, Jacque Martin, of Maysville, OK, and Joy Smith of Broken Arrow, OK; and great-aunt, Carolyn Taylor, of Oklahoma, OK. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorraine Taylor. Shane graduated from La Cueva High School, Class of 1993, and attended UNM for one semester. Shane is a beloved son and brother. He had a great heart, which held all of his family and his many, many friends around the country, including San Antonio, Albuquerque, and Rio Rancho. He loved the Dallas Cowboys football team (and he wasn't just a fair-weather fan) and the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team. He was an all around sports fan, and watched ESPN more than any other type of TV program. He also loved reading books of any type, but especially fantasy, science fiction, and James Cromwell mysteries. He also loved long, hot baths that lasted 40 minutes to an hour, reading the entire time. Thus most of his books are water-logged and wrinkly. He was also a great fan of karaoke, and he had a wonderful baritone singing voice. He carried his many, many friends with him wherever he went, and his cell phone was his constant companion. He lived a full life, with a loving family and friends. Even when he was finding it hard to find a job, after his last employer closed the doors, Shane kept his sense of humor. He called his Mom just last week, and told her that he had to do more research on where he was putting in applications. He was pretty sure he'd just put in an application as a bartender at a gay bar (not that there's anything wrong with that)! When they were young, his Mom read "Lord of The Rings", to Shane and Stuart. It remains one of their favorite fantasies. Thus, as Gandalf told Pippin about death, "End? The journey does not end here. Death is just another path, one that we all have to travel. The gray rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass. And then, you see it- white shores and beyond, the far- green country, under a swift sunrise." Shane, beloved son, and brother, you have gone onto the Greyhavens before us, and will await us there. We love you, and will miss your smile, your sense of humor, and your great goodness. Rest well! Love, Mom, Stuart, Dad, and Roy. A Public Visitation will be held Friday February 6, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m., with Funeral Services following at 11:00 a.m., with Seth Finch presiding, at the Sara Rd Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, at the corner of Sara Rd. and Meadowlark Ln.
