CLEARY -- Michael John Cleary, 38, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, January 22, 2009. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Faye Cleary; the love of his life, Ulrike Cleary; sisters, Kathleen Eslinger and husband Brad and Trish Nickerson and husband Walter; brothers, Richard Cleary, Jr. and wife Claire and Thomas Cleary and wife Denise; nieces, Tiffany, Danielle, Aidan and Farren; and nephews, Walter, Matthew, and Kevin; great nieces, Taitum and Taryn. Michael served his country in the US Army, serving in Bosnia and Gulf War I and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Michael was awarded the Army Commendation Metal, Army Superior Unit Award, Armed Forces Service Metal, Army Good Conduct Metal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Lapel Button, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas service ribbon (2nd award), NATO Medal, the Expert Marksmanship qualification badge with grenade bar, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, and Parachutist Badge. Michael was a loving son, brother, and uncle who was greatly loved by his family and will be deeply missed. Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary - Lomas Location, 10500 Lomas NE. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
