GUFFEY -- Mary S. Guffey, 75, passed away peacefully Friday, December 26, 2008 in her home surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 14, 1933 to James and Mary Bavester. Although she was born in Illinois, she soon sprouted her wings and traveled the world. Along the way she lived in Alaska, Germany, and Oklahoma before finally settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1969. Mary was a strong, outspoken, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all. She had a never ending thirst for knowledge that she used to help improve her community and was always the first to lend a helping hand. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Bruce on December 2, 2008. She is survived by her one sister; two brothers; eight children; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mary was one of a kind and she will truly be missed by all who loved her. A Memorial Service will take place at 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at French Mortuary Westside Chapel with a reception to follow.
