KAPLANIDES -- Christos, 70, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died suddenly on November 24, 2008. He was born in Serres, Greece on February 6, 1938. He immigrated to the United States when he was 15, and graduated from Menaul School in 1955. He earned a B.S. and M.A. from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Kaplanides taught high school in Albuquerque for 32 years, with 28 of those years at Del Norte High School. He also spent many years serving in a variety of roles at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. He leaves behind many loved ones, but most significantly his wife of 44 years, Vicki Scott Kaplanides. He is also survived by his children Julie Gray, Scott Kaplanides, and Miles Kaplanides; and his grandchildren Katie, Amy, Joshua, and Joseph, whom he adored. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Chris' name to KNME-TV, 1130 University Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. A Memorial Service and interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Sandia Memory Gardens, 9500 San Pedro NE, in Albuquerque, NM.
