ROSS -- L. Renee (formerly Lucille Eisenbrey), 78 of Bosque Farms, died peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Renee is survived by her devoted husband, Spencer Barnett, six children, eleven grandchildren and four beloved dogs. Her extended family will miss this most extraordinary woman. Born in Cleveland in 1930, Renee enrolled in nursing school where she met her first husband, Dr. A. Bradley Eisenbrey. They moved their growing family to Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan where she remained until 1985. Renee's restless mind and immense energy were expressed in culinary flair, raucous piano and singing sessions, beautiful needlepoint, an amateur acting career and political activism. Following her divorce, Renee returned to school to earn both a bachelor's degree in political science and a Master's in public administration in just three years. She then worked with the Detroit Area Agency on Aging to create innovative programs to bring area youth to work in the elderly community and served on the board of the League of Women Voters. She also chaired the Detroit-East Chapter of the Older Women's League. For these many contributions to the community, she was honored by the Michigan Legislature with a joint resolution in 1985. Renee then moved with her new husband, Spencer, to Bosque Farms where she designed their home and where she lived to the present. She worked as a supervisor with the New Mexico Department of Human Services in the Income Support Division, retiring after ten years. She served as a docent at the New Mexico Natural History Museum between trips to Europe and around the United States to visit her friends and children. Her twenty eight years with Spencer in her adopted home of New Mexico were the happiest of her life. Please visit our online guestbook at RememberTheirStory.com.
