COX -- Beverly Ann Cox, 78, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, after a long battle with kidney cancer. She was born in Kansas City, MO to Edward and Nannie Belle Arth. In 1946, her family, including brothers, Edward, Jr. and Richard, were on their way to California to find better work. In Albuquerque, the tires on their car wore out. Because of the rubber shortage due to World War II, they were unable to find replacements and settled in Albuquerque. Beverly attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from the old Albuquerque High. In 1949, she was introduced by her best friend to Calvin Cox, Jr., who became the love of her life and husband for 53 years. Their family grew quickly with the births of Timothy and Karen. Because of Calvin's work with Sandia National Laboratories, they were transferred to Alamogordo, then to Las Cruces where their last child, Kenneth, was born. In 1974, they transferred back to Albuquerque. Beverly worked for Equifax both in Las Cruces and Albuquerque. She enjoyed her work and made life long friends there. Beverly is survived by her son, Timothy and his wife, Billie Poteet of Tijeras; and daughter, Karen Reif and husband, Richard of Placitas. She loved her friends Emily and their Scrabble group; Audrey and Connie; her brother-in-law and his wife, Jack and Joyce Cox of Sonoita, AZ and sister-in-law and her husband, Bonnie and Pat Duncan of Missoula, MT. Whiskers, Sweetie and Zoe, her Lhasa-Apsos, are glad to have her in Heaven with them. She loved all roses and she always wanted to go to Vienna--she got to in December 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, both brothers, her husband, Calvin and sadly by her son, Kenneth. Services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 3:00 p.m. at Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, where she was a longtime member. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Special thanks go to Dr. Malcolm Purdy, everyone at Hematology Oncology Associates, and Vista Care Hospice.
