MCALLISTER -- Arthur V. McAllister, loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Arthur was born on April 12, 1946 to Martin and Grace McAllister in Panguitch, UT. He graduated from Panguitch High School in 1964, where he was a proud member of the Bobcat basketball team and senior class president. Art grew up hunting and fishing in the mountains surrounding the beautiful valley that he loved so much and always longed to return. Art married and later divorced Peggy Jean Baker and together they had three children. Later in life, Art found his greatest joy in spoiling his grandchildren who each adored him for his quiet and kind demeanor. His children and grandchildren will forever be grateful for his example of hard work and endless generosity. Art made his career in the construction industry where he was a successful and widely respected estimator and engineer who worked on countless projects across the west until his illness forced his retirement. Art has been described as a "brilliant expert" in Civil Heavy/Highway Construction. He worked as Chief Estimator/Engineer for David Montoya Construction, Inc. for over 25 years. He was well known for his knowledge, attention to detail and tremendous work ethic. Art was respected by his friends as a trusted confidant, caring mentor and avid sportsman. Art is survived by his children Shannon and husband Paul Wimmer, Martin and wife Brenna and Joseph and wife Marci; grandchildren Aspen and Sage Wimmer, Ian McAllister and Dillon McAllister; brother Karl and wife JoAnne; and sister Lynda.
