CARBAJAL -- Roberta Anne "Bobbi" Carbajal, 56, entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 6, 2008. She was blessed to be at home with her family as she was peacefully received into the arms of the Lord. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Leo W. Carbajal; her children Leo Wray Carbajal of Bosque, NM; Sergio and wife Mandy of Belen, NM; and Greg and wife Jessica, also of Belen. She is also survived by her parents, Robert and Ada Schleicher of Los Lunas, NM; and her sisters Carole Caswell of Los Lunas, and Christine Roath of Jonesboro, IL. She is survived by many other family members as well. Born in Ann Arbor, MI on June 1, 1952, Bobbi lived in various locations in the Midwest and on the East Coast, finally settling down with her family in Las Cruces, NM where she met her future husband, Leo. She earned her undergraduate degree in music performance in 1975 from NM State University, and shortly thereafter received a master's degree in music performance from the University of New Mexico. Following their marriage and a brief stay in Albuquerque, Bobbi and Leo settled in Belen where she began using her love for music and people to give private music lessons to students of all ages. She taught people from Valencia and Socorro counties for more than 30 years. Bobbi's life was marked by a steadfast love for her family, as well as a life of diligence and sacrifice in serving many others. Her commitment to her family was demonstrated in many ways, including the home schooling of all her children. Her love for others showed in her open hospitality and genuine desire to serve and meet their needs. Above all else, Bobbi's greatest joy came from knowing and loving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through that personal relationship with the Lord, she brought a deep-seated joy to the lives of others, touching everyone she met in a special way. Her ever-present sense of humor helped others to laugh, relax and enjoy life. She was an active member of Grace Fellowship in Los Lunas, where she sang on the worship team for several years and helped lead home Bible study groups. She was also known as the church "Birthday Greeter", as she greatly enjoyed her volunteer service in making personal phone calls to members on their birthday. In addition, she was a past member of the Board of Directors of a local home school association. Among her wide interests was a passion for camping, along with stream and ice fishing. A Service Celebrating Bobbi's life will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Grace Fellowship, 3384 Highway 47 in Los Lunas. Serving as pallbearers will be Gilbert Espinoza, Ben Harris, David Hawkins, Rick Knudson, Ken Logan, and Jim Roach. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception at Grace Fellowship afterward. Romero Funeral Home in Belen is in charge of arrangements.
