BUTLER -- Howell Marion Butler, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, November 6, 2008. He is survived and missed by his immediate family which include his wife of 50 years, Carol J. Butler; daughters, Cynthia Butler of Long Beach, CA and Cody Griffith of Austin, TX, and son, Creig Butler of Anchorage, AK. Howell is also survived by his siblings, I.H. Butler, Jr. and wife Genae and family of Columbia, LA, Virginia McKeithen and family of Monroe, LA, Barbara Simpson and husband Fred and family of Livingston, TX, and Ronnie Butler and wife, Jo Ann of Village Mills, TX; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iley H. and Mattie Russ Butler. Howell was born on January 26, 1929 in West Monroe, LA and graduated from Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Howell worked for Sohio Petroleum Company with the majority of his career spent working internationally for the US Geological Survey until his retirement in 1996. His lifetime contributions and achievements are too numerous to share at this time. Howell will be remembered as a very warm and devoted husband and father and for his passion for animals and his sense of humor. His personality made him memorable. Cremation has taken place and per his request, no Services will be held.
