PADILLA -- MARY ALICE Our beloved "Mamia", Mary Alice Padilla, 74, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008 from cancer. She was born in Santa Fe, NM and lived most of her life in Albuquerque where she worked for BIA. She was married to the love of her life, Lee Padilla, for 43 years until his passing in 1996. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1998 where she could be in the sun and enjoy the palm trees. She, a Cochiti Pueblo Native American, loved Native American art and music. She could be seen frequently visiting the local art fairs as well as the shopping malls and casinos - she loved to shop. She is remembered for her passion for life, joy of making new friends, her New Mexican cooking - she loved to feed people and her love for warm weather and the color purple. She is survived by her four daughters, Charlene Cook of Colorado, Dede Van Voltenburg of California, Linda Stephens of North Carolina and Bobbi Johnson of Mesa, AZ. She also leaves behind her sister Betty Jackson of Albuquerque, NM. She had eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 9:30 a.m., Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 East Knox Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85044.
