DELAHOUSSAYE -- Sherill Ann Delahoussaye died on October 24, 2008 after a long and valiant battle with breast cancer. Born May 16, 1947 to Althemus Joseph & Leona Delahoussaye in Washington D.C. Sherill is survived by her son John M. Dugas and his wife, Paulette Dugas, grandchildren Julian and Ethan Dugas, ex-husband and friend John F. Dugas, mother Leona Delahoussaye, brothers Althemus Joseph and Brian Delahoussaye, his wife Margaret Delahoussaye and their children Julie, Stephen, Michael, Kevin and grandchild Patrick. Sherill was raised in Los Angeles, CA, graduated from the University of Southern California, and received her Masters in Public Health from UC Berkeley and JD MBA from UCLA. In 1973 she declared her belief to the Bahai Faith principles and became a Bahai. She lived a devoted life of service to her fellow man, entering the Peace Corps at age 22 and going to Niger, Africa for two years. Her specialty in the Peace Corps was maternity care and child rearing. Sherill spent over twenty-five years working in the law profession as a corporate health care attorney. Some of her most rewarding work occurred in her last five years of life caring for her mother who suffers from dementia. This experience inspired Sherill to own, operate, and work in Tender Heart Assisted Living. She truly loved her residents and relished the opportunity to care for them during the twilight years of their lives. She shared a special relationship with her friends and her only child. She will be sorely missed. We love you mom! Services will be held on Monday October 27th at 11:00 A.M. at the Albuquerque Bahai Center, located at 5700 Ouray Road, NW 87120, near Coors & I-40.
