ROMERO -- Jerry Roland Romero Our Lord welcomed Jerry, 58, into Heaven on October 16, 2008. Beloved son, brother,uncle, nephew, godfather, and friend. Born in Williams, AZ. Raised in Phoenix, AZ. Attended St. Matthew's Catholic School, graduated in 1968 from Carl Hayden High School. Graduate of Phoenix College-Associate of Arts Business Degree and attended Arizona State University. Most recently, Jerry lived and worked in Farmington, NM. He also lived in Albuquerque and Seboyeta, NM since 1979. He positively affected the lives of those working for the Union as a lobbyist, and working on legislative issues affecting the advancement and safety of his fellow union members. Jerry was an environmentalist he always made big business nervous, looking out for the best interests of his fellow workers and union brothers. Jerry also was instrumental with the Seboyeta Land grant. He worked in the mines and the mining industry in Seboyeta, working towards the improvement of safety methods for his fellow miners. Jerry is survived by his parents, Orlando C. and Frances Romero of New Mexico; sisters LaVerne Henson, Scottsdale, AZ and her sons Brett and Jason and his spouse Erin Henson and sister Darcy and husband Rob Royal, children Alicia and Bryan Royal of Phoenix, AZ, sister Darlene and her husband Tim Wilson of San Jose, CA. His career included, International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 953, Member Representative/Business Agent Organizer, Crane Service, Inc. Field Representative, Southwest Contract Compliance Foundation, Southwest Research & Information Center of Albuquerque, NM. SOHIO Western Mining Company,and United Nuclear Corporation, Seboyeta, NM Certified Hazardous Material Handling & Response Instructor, Cibola County Democratic Party, Treasurer, Member of the Albuquerque Realtors Asso. 1972 Arizona Democratic National Convention Delegate, Citizens Advisory board for Sandia National Lab/Inhalation toxicology research institute. Civic Organizations include the Electoral Campaign worker in association with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 953, Cebolleta Water Project, Seboyeta, NM. Heir and member of the Cebolleta Land grant. Jerry lived an independent adventurous life, with an exceptionally generous spirit. He was a superior marksman, car enthusiast, history buff, avid hunter, skier and golfer. A true Western rancher and outdoorsman.
