GROMATZKY -- Cletis Ilene Gromatzky 1920 - 2008. On a crisp autumn Sunday, the type of New Mexico day she truly loved, Cletis Ilene Gromatzky went to be with the Lord at the age of 88. With extraordinary dignity our loved one, who had labored so much to breathe during the past 12 years, took a peaceful, final breath while surrounded by her family. Cletis was born on March 9, 1920 in Union County, NM. Her parents came there in 1911 while New Mexico was still a territory. She was a 1937 graduate of Maxwell High School. Cletis was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Gladys Gorham; her first husband M.L. Cline; as well as her second husband Paul A. Gromatzky. Also, by her three brothers Vernon, Ewel and Glenn Gorham; and one sister Glenna Gorham. Cletis is survived by her four children, Colin R. Gromatzky of Las Cruces, Joan Dodson of Los Lunas, Paul A. Gromatzky Jr. and wife Millie of Deming and Gerald G. Gromatzky and wife Sandra of Los Lunas. Also by two of her sisters, Neva Henry of Pratt, KS and Esther Gunnels of San Antonio, TX. In addition to raising her beloved four children, Cletis worked on the family dairy in Las Vegas, NM before moving both family and business to El Cerro in the summer of 1950. Cletis later took a job at the Los Lunas Hospital & Training School in 1956, where she wore many hats up until her retirement in 1985. Cletis was an avid gardener and could make anything grow in any kind of soil. She had a deep respect for New Mexico and loved its scenery and its wildlife, especially the doves she often watched feed outside her dining room window during breakfast. She never missed a birthday for the family she so dearly loved. Even during the cloudiness of her final days she wanted to make sure that one of her granddaughters and two of her great grandsons had their birthday gifts. Cletis is also survived by ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. All of them will proudly serve as her pallbearers. A family visitation will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2008 between 4-6 p.m., with a public viewing following between 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will take place Friday, October 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. All services will be held at the Daniels Family Funeral Home at 1100 Coal Ave. SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Fairview Memorial Park. In memory of Cletis the family requests that you make the contribution of your choosing to Hospice caregivers in your respective communities. They are angels on earth who provided our beloved Cletis what she deserved more than anything...comfort and peace. Those who wish to send condolences may do so at www.danielsfuneral.com. Services have been entrusted to: Daniels Family Funeral Services 1100 Coal Ave SE Albuquerque, NM 87106 505-842-8800
