PYLES -- Robert L. Pyles, DVM, passed away on September 4, 2008. He was born in Wichita, KS to Andrew and Fannie Pyles on October 12, 1921. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1943, and then served in the Army during WWII. He was the Veterinarian-in-charge for the US Dept. of Agriculture in NM , retiring in 1973. Dr. Pyles was also State Veterinarian for the NM Livestock Board, and retired in 1984. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 65 years; two sons Michael and Dennis, and his wife, Sue, of Albuquerque; a sister Louise, of Hermitage, MO, and many nieces and nephews. After retirement, Bob and Ruth spent many winters in Yuma AZ. Dr. Pyles received many awards from the NM Veterinary Assoc. and the United States Animal Health Assoc. He was a honorary Life member of the NM Cattle Growers Assoc. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Harwood United Methodist Church (420 San Lorenzo, NW) on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harwood United Methodist Church, 420 San Lorenzo NW, Albuq., 87107.
