GUILES -- Frances "Francie" J. Guiles passed away August 10, 2008, after a strong battle against cancer. She was 54 years young. She could not have made the battle without the unending and kind support of family, friends, and coworkers. Her hope was to leave behind an understanding and knowledge of the cancer process so that when it comes time for those left behind to experience or assist with the journey, they will be armed with information and won't be afraid. Her goal in life was to know each and every person in her life at a depth that was meaningful and powerful enough to last a lifetime and beyond--and always to laugh, to find the humor in every situation and to bring joy to everyone as much as possible. She is survived by her committed, doting, and loving husband, David C. Guiles, of Escondido, CA (married 24 years); brother Edward V. Simpson and his wife, Kelly, of San Francisco (both always there to help with the bureaucracy); brother Henry C. Simpson and his significant other, Grozdena Todorova, of Knoxville, TN (caring supporters); aunt Melba Young and her husband, Jim, of Reno, NV (Francie's rock and precious dear loved ones); stepfather Edward C. Nickolds, of Escondido (buddy and curiosity partner); and aunt Dolores Gutierres, of Albuquerque (friend and helper). Friends are too many to list, but you all know how much Francie loves you. At Francie's request, there will be no Memorial Service. She asks only that her family and friends get together in their respective groups over a lovely meal and laugh about our many antics and funny memories. She'll be waiting for us so that we can laugh some more with her in a far and beautiful place with all of our animals. She is happy now and wants each of us to be happy and to find joy in every day. If you desire, donations may be made to the PPH Capital Campaign of the Palomar Pomerado Health Foundation (960 Canterbury Place, Suite 110, Escondido, CA 92025; 760-739-2787; pphfoundation.org), Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741-5000; 435-644-2001; bestfriends.org), or Elizabeth Hospice (150 West Crest Street, Escondido, CA 92025; 760-737-2050; elizabethhospice.org).
