CHAVEZ -- Nestor Baca Chavez, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. Mr. Chavez was born on October 24, 1926 to Filomeno U. and Felicita (Baca) Chavez of Polvadera, NM. He served our country in the U.S. Army. He was employed by the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque for over forty years. Mr. Chavez will be remembered for his love of fishing, spending time outdoors, and devotion to all sports. Mr. Chavez is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary (Mora) Chavez; his children, Nancy Chavez, Agnes Sedillo and husband, David Lucero, Nestor Chavez, Jr., Daniel Chavez and Jennifer and Jimmy J. Chavez; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Lucy Carrasco and husband, Fred, Gertrude Sedillo, Ray Chavez, Frank Chavez and wife, Myrna, and Frances Mora and husband, Victor. Mr. Chavez is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Phil Chavez, Tommy Chavez, and Eddie Chavez. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd SW. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 19, at 9:00 a.m., also at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Mr. Chavez will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be Victor Mora, James Griego, Tommy Chavez, Jr., Joe Jojola, Chris Sedillo, and David Lucero. The Honorary Pallbearer will be Fred Carrasco.
