THARP -- William "Don" Tharp, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Mr. Tharp is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Alice; daughters, Linda Banks and husband, Rick, and Stella Smith; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, David and Donny and seven siblings. Don was born in Clovis, NM to Wallace and Mildred Tharp. Don served his country during WWII in the US Navy and the US Marine Corp and was involved in five major battles. William was a long time member of the CJC-LDS. One of his greatest joys was talking to people, he never met a stranger and his family and friends will always remember his personality and smile. Services will be Friday, April 25, 2008, 10:00 a.m., at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sunport Ward, 8130 Sage Road, SW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
