STARR GIVLER -- Hazel Starr Givler, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1940, passed away on February 12, 2008. A graduate of the University of Albuquerque, she worked at First National Bank, retiring as a Vice-President in 1987. Following retirement, Hazel developed a passion for writing, becoming a published author. She was a charter member of Del Norte Baptist Church. She spent many years teaching women's Sunday School, and worked in several ministries. Hazel was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Starr; her second husband, Marvin Givler; and her daughter, Sharon Morris. She is survived by her brothers, O.B. Johnston and his wife, Geneva, Walter Johnston and his wife, Mary, Edwin Johnston and his wife Hazel, and Roy Johnston and his wife, Kathy; stepsons, Russell Givler and his wife, Ruth and their children, and Randy Givler and his family; grandchildren, Michael Morris and Kerri Morris and their families; great-granddaughter, Kate Buller; son-in-law, Terry Morris, his wife Saundra and their children; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also has extended family throughout the southern states. Hazel is a loved daughter, wife, mother, Sis, Gram, GG, teacher and mentor, and will be missed. Friends may visit Hazel at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Friday, February 15, 2008, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008, 1:00 p.m., at Del Norte Baptist Church, 5800 Montgomery Blvd. NE, 87109. Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Del Norte Baptist Church, 5800 Montgomery Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87109.
