MURPHY -- Patricia Grace Murphy, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, since 1974, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Murphy; son, Colin Murphy and wife, Elizabeth Cotton-Murphy of Chicago, IL; sister, Pam Everitt of Norwich, England; and many dear friends and relatives. Patricia was born in Dublin, Ireland, on March 5, 1940, adopted at age 2 by Frederick and Margaret Howe of the UK, and grew up in Scotland and England. She studied at Cambridge, becoming a nurse in 1961 and midwife in 1963. She worked throughout England for the next decade, also spending time as a missionary nurse in Jordan. In 1970 she married Dan, a USAF SMSgt she met when both were working near RAF Lakenheath in England. After their move to Albuquerque she worked as a psychiatric nurse and case manager until her retirement in 2000. Patricia's friends will remember her sharp mind, independence, and quick sense of humor, as well as the cheerful nature and quiet spirituality which she retained even to the end of her struggle with dementia. Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 17, 2008, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
