MACALEESE -- Marjory Robinson - As you read this, Marge MacAleese is sitting in some beautiful corner of Heaven having tea with her beloved husband, Jim. Marjory Robinson MacAleese, 89, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2008. Born to Katherine and William Robinson in Toronto, Canada, in June, 1918, Marge met her future husband, James Wallace MacAleese at a dance at Wellington Air Force Base in 1942. As they were dancing, Jim told her, "I'm going to marry you." He was good to his promise. They were married on July 4, 1943 ("The day America got its independence and the day I lost mine" as Jim would often say). In 1947, Marge and Jim had a son, Gregory. The family moved from coast to coast in Canada as Jim made the Royal Canadian Air Force his career. In 1961, Jim had a choice of two postings - either the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C., or the Special Weapons Center at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. He wisely chose Albuquerque and set up an RCAF Liaison Office at Kirtland. They never left Albuquerque. Marge and Jim became avid golfers and after Jim died in 1992, Marge continued playing golf with the early morning "dew sweepers" at Arroyo Del Oso until her health began to decline in 2004. Marge is survived by her son, Greg, and her brother, Mel Robinson of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, along with numerous nieces and nephews. It was Marge's wish that she be cremated and her ashes be placed with her husband. Marge also wanted to remember the fine work and dedication of the nurses and support personnel with Presbyterian Hospice. Arrangements are in the care of RIVERSIDE FUNERAL HOME OF ALBUQUERQUE 225 San Mateo NE 764-9663 Riversidefunerals.com
