NALDA -- Jean Baptiste Nalda, age 94, of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, November 27, 2007. Jean Baptiste was born in Urepel, in the Basque region of the French Pyrenees. At the age of 16, he migrated to the United States to be with his older brothers. Jean Baptiste earned his citizenship by serving in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre of Command. After the war, he came back to New Mexico to manage the Roadrunner Ranch near Vaughn, where he worked for the next 34 years. He retired to Albuquerque in 1985 where he loved taking care of his garden and Janet's horse. Jean Baptiste was a loving husband to his wife of 56 years, Jeanne. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Rosemarie Hennigan and husband, Robert, and Janet Nalda-Lyons and husband, Ray; and caring uncle to numerous nieces and nephews both in France and the United States. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine brothers and sisters. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A Rosary will be recited Friday, November 30, 2007 at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary Westside Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW.
