PAYTON -- Dorothy F. Payton, age 80, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, November 5, 2007. She was born on December 3, 1926 in Treece, KS, the daughter of Lauren E. and Murl E. Johnson. She married Kenneth Lee Payton on June 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1995 after 48 years of marriage. Mrs. Payton was a member of Sombra Del Monte Christian Church of Albuquerque, where she participated in a variety of church activities and ministries. She was a member of The Cherokees of New Mexico, an avid golfer and bowler and she enjoyed sewing with her friends. Mrs. Payton is survived by her daughters, Barbara Payton of Glendale, AZ, Janet Payton of Medina, OH and Cathi Newman of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Maia, Betty, Dorothy, Adrian, and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Bailey; and one brother, Lauren Johnson and his wife, Betty of Miami, OK. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Glen and Giles Johnson. Memorial Services will be held Friday, November 9, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, 2525 Vermont, NE. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday, November 8, 2007, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Interment will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2006, 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
